Allure of the Seas is Royal Caribbean's second Oasis class vessel - and being a mere 2 inches longer than its sister, Oasis of the Seas, the Allure rightfully claims itself as the largest cruise ship afloat. We enjoyed ourselves last month on the Oasis, and so we booked this cruise for the 4th of July week.
Leaving Fort Lauderdale, we enjoyed waving at folks along the channel and folks who were standing on the rocks at the south end of the beach on another beautifully clear day.
Settling once again into "life at sea" we enjoyed meeting our friends, Janis & Jeff Jones, from Kansas City and exploring the Allure for comparisons to the Oasis, but finding very few.
This cruise itinerary was identical to our last cruise and so arriving at Labadee, Haiti, we knew exactly where we wanted to go -- the beach called Columbus Cove where we sunned early in the day and then returned to the ship for a quiet lunch at Johnny Rockets.
We visited Jamaica the next day and our tour choice was The Good Hope Estate with its lovely home built in 1755 and its great views of the Cockpit Mountains.
Sea days are wonderful, especially on a ship like this because there are lots of great shows. We enjoyed seeing the musical Chicago again and the amazing skating talent in their Shows On Ice.
Cozumel was our last stop before returning to Fort Lauderdale and we toured the iconic Mayan ruins at Tulum that overlook a coral reef that is the next largest in the world (after The Great Barrier Reef). Also below us was a beautiful beach that faces the clear, blue waters of the Caribbean Sea.
Good food, fun times, and lots of laughs every day made this cruise very special.
Next month we will make our annual visit to Maine and the following month we leave on our extended world cruise !!
Hi gentlemen: Pat, here in Reno on Oct. 2, 7AM PDT.. I have so appreciated being kept in the loop. LOVE the pix, the description. Cecil and I were on the AMSTERDAM for a 2 month a round So AM. Our favorite ship! I can picture you enjoying all. Ifly to Montreal Oct. 13, overnight at Hyatt Reg., bussed to Quebec on the 14th, have a bonus of an overnight on board EURODAM, ship sails on the 15th. a "two-weeker." Weather here in Reno in 70s--80s. We need a lot of moisture. The West is drying up. I'm busy with piano playing for the veterans, involved in women's political groups (Makes me think, how are you going to vote in Nov. election?: Were you able to obtain absentee ballots early on?) Cec and I had 6 ws in Australia---flew into Sydney, rented a car ,eventually flew to Perth which was like So Calif. We, too, loved the sweet Koalas. THANK YOU for the uptick! I like to think of some of my Dad's cufflinks going along with you. He would be delighted. Love to both! Pat
