Steve returned to the island of Bali which he visited 30 years ago with his two sons, Tommy and Steve Jr., and he enjoyed revisiting some of the sights he remembers from that trip. The island has changed somewhat with many more people today - more than 1.7 million residents - making for lots of traffic, but the beautiful scenery and special sights remain unchanged. It was Tom's first visit and some of the nearly 600 photos he took are below. We enjoyed visiting a Hindu temple, the terraced rice fields and the monkey forest. Also visited was a factory where batik fabrics are made and Steve bought a nice shirt (that he is wearing that night back on ship where he was photographed with the Captain). We had lunch at Naughty Nuri's with our travel agent, Janis Jones, who surprised us by flying to Australia last week to join our cruise for two weeks and share travel experiences with us. We all hope to return again to Bali and enjoy more of the beauty but today we are sailing to another Indonesian island - Sulawesi and its capital city of Makassar. And then we sail to the Philippines before traveling north to Hong Kong. We are 1/2 way around the world on our cruise and having a terrific time. So many memories are being made and you'll hopefully enjoy the photos we are including in this Post.
Selamat Tinggai - Balinese for "good bye".
