The
Pride was anchored at 7:00am quite a ways offshore from Jost Van Dyke, a very small island in the British Virgin Islands chain, and after we transferred by tender into the village of Great Harbour we caught a free shuttle to White Bay where a beautiful beach awaited us for a lazy morning swim.
The Soggy Dollar Bar was already open at 10:00am serving renowned
Pain Killers, a blend of dark rum, orange juice, pineapple juice, coconut milk and topped with island nutmeg to "smooth out our attitudes", ha!
We returned to the Pride in early afternoon and departed for our last port, Santa Barbara de Samana in the Dominican Republic. We arrived the next day, on Thanksgiving, and tendered in choppy waters to the shore where we saw our friends, Janis and Jeff, on their way to Cayo Levantado Beach.
After buying a t-shirt at a small shop near the dock, Steve and Tom returned to the ship for lunch. Steve, feeling a little queazy after riding the tender back to the ship, elected to stay onboard the Pride to relax. Tom returned to town with some other guests and visited a quaint church, but otherwise they found there wasn't a lot to see there.
Back on board the
Pride we enjoyed two more days at sea
sharing stories and laughter with the many friends we met on this cruise, including Melanie (who was traveling with her husband, Finley not in photo) from England, who affectionately kissed Tom goodbye, and friends Bob and Dan from NYC. And we especially appreciated traveling with our friends, Janis and Jeff, who have helped us explore the world at sea !! And we enjoyed a farewell dinner with Speedy and Christina, who were onboard entertainers from the Philippines.
We sadly ended this cruise on Seabourn but know it won't be our last. Seeing all the big cruise ships in Port Everglades as we arrived in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday, December 1st, we were reminded that we still have many more adventures at sea to experience in the coming years!
