We departed Fort Lauderdale on Thursday, November 21st and sailed to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Seeing the old city and fortifications that once defended the island, named El Morro, on the coastline as we sailed into the harbor brought back memories to Steve of his many trips there years ago when he worked at American Airlines. Steve has decided though that arriving by sea is the best way to see San Juan and its many charms.
We enjoyed touring San Juan with our friends, Janis and Jeff, and we were escorted and guided by Paulina, who owns SpoonFoodTours that provided our pre-arranged culinary excursion. Paulina led us to three different restaurants in varying parts of the city letting us sample local and favored cuisine including Puerto Rican, Cuban and Peruvian. Yum....yum !!
And of course, the evening meals were topped off with Tres Leches cake, one of Steve's favorites :)
Tomorrow we sail to Virgin Gorda and the next day to St. Kitts (where this Post is actually being sent). More photos of these ports will follow with our next posting in a few days. If the weather you are experiencing at home right now isn't very good :( we feel bad for you !!
So be sure and put this cruise on YOUR bucket list and book it soon for wonderful weather :)
